An Introduction

Welcome to Win With Favorites, a collective that showcases Pokémon Rescue Squad Samantha's team. Here you will find links to small online dedications to some of her favorite Pokémon that have served her well along her journey. She has been a fan of Pokémon since the late 90's and has come a long way since her original Red version play through! You will also find information about Samantha's history with Pokémon, a list of all of her favorites and links to other similar collectives. Thanks for stopping by!

Version 4 of Win with Favorites features a pokéball design made by me in the Mac version of Adobe Photoshop CS5, with the exception of fonts that were downloaded from Dafont. The navigation consists of the links along the black strip. Past layouts can be viewed at my layout archive.

Meet the Team

The following six Pokémon are my go-to team. I always try to have at least one of them in my party, no matter what game I am playing! For a full list of Pokémon that I've used over the years, head to the favorites page.

The Dark Pokemon, Houndoom

I don't even know where to start with Houndoom. I distinctly remember coming across a Houndour next to Celadon City in the original Silver version and just becoming enamored with it. I was even more so when it evolved into Houndoom! I couldn't tell you why, though. Nevertheless, Houndoom has been my partner Pokémon in a similar way to Ash and Pikachu ever since. I've used Houndoom in just about every game I could possibly use him in, and he is my main partner in the stories and comics I've created over the years. My Houndoom is fiercely loyal and tends to get a little jealous when I give other people or Pokémon my attention.
Gender: Male
Nature: Bold
Held Item: Houndoominite
Move Set: Flamethrower, Dark Pulse, Sludge Bomb, Thunder Fang
Used In: Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum, XD, White 2, SoulSilver, Y, Alpha Sapphire

The Pitch-Black Pokemon, Darkrai

I actually had no interest in Darkrai until after I happened to receive one from the United States event in 2012. My friend and I were at Nintendo World in NYC and the cashier told us about the event, so we just downloaded it right there. I had the urge to read more about it a few months later and ended up watching The Rise of Darkrai movie and all the anime episodes it appeared in. Darkrai quickly became one of my absolute favorite Pokémon and I'd probably say it is my number one favorite at this point. I am proud to say that Darkrai is my largest Pokémon merchandise collection! Generally I don't like to use "legendary" Pokémon, but since there are technically multiple Darkrai in the Pokémon universe and it really isn't that strong, I've made an exception and added it to my party. My Darkrai in my story is reserved and gentle and is slowly learning to open up to the rest of my team.
Gender: None
Nature: Modest
Held Item: BlackGlasses
Move Set: Dark Pulse, Dark Void, Dream Eater, Psychic
Used In: White 2, X

The Disguise Pokemon, Mimikyu

I immediately fell in love with Mimikyu the moment I saw the leaked scan. I love most ghost-types as it is, but it also broke my heart to read that it dresses like Pikachu because it is really lonely and wants to make friends with people and other Pokémon. I tend to like the lonely types if you haven't noticed between Mimikyu and Darkrai... Anyway, I'd have to say that 90% of my excitement for Sun and Moon was to be able to catch this cutie and have one on my team! I adore him and have really enjoyed having one in my party. I look forward to seeing more of Mimikyu in the anime and to using him in future games. My future Mimikyu merchandise collection will likely give my Darkrai collection a run for its money! I haven't actually added to my story since Sun/Moon's release, but I have imagined my Mimikyu to be a little shy, affectionate and easily saddened by others' negative opinions of him.
Gender: Male
Nature: Impish
Held Item: Ghostium Z
Move Set: Shadow Claw, Play Rough, Feint Attack, Leech Life
Used In: Sun

The Aura Pokemon, Lucario

Lucario was not a Pokémon I was interested in when Diamond/Pearl initially came out. I had a good friend who loved Lucario and I knew it was pretty popular, but for some reason I wasn't particularly attached. I honestly can't remember when I realized that I actually did like was some time after Black/White already came out. I do know that watching Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and other anime episodes added fuel to the fire, though. Nevertheless, Lucario is one of my top favorites today and is actually my second largest Pokémon merchandise collection after Darkrai! I've used Lucario in more play throughs than I can remember. My Lucario is very serious and level-headed and is learning to have fun from the other members of my team.
Gender: Male
Nature: Serious
Held Item: Lucarionite
Move Set: Aura Sphere, Brick Break, Flash Canon, Dragon Pulse
Used In: Diamond, Platinum, SoulSilver, White 2, X, Y

The Sound Wave Pokemon, Noivern

I was so excited when Noivern was announced for X/Y. Dragons are my favorite mythical creature and I adore bats—Noivern being a combination of the two is amazing. I immediately fell in love with the way it looked and couldn't wait to have one on my team. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find out that Noibat was only available close to the end of the game, so it didn't make it to my original Y team. Training Noibat in X was tough despite super training and giving it an eviolite, but it was totally worth it when he finally evolved! I really look forward to being able to use him again in future games—fingers crossed that we can eventually transfer old Pokémon to Sun/Moon! My Noivern is loyal and brave, but is very quick-tempered.
Gender: Male
Nature: Bold
Held Item: Dragon Fang
Move Set: Dragon Pulse, Boomburst, Air Slash, Flamethrower
Used In: X

The Regal Pokemon, Serperior

I like a lot of the starter Pokémon, but I was never really obsessed with one until I got Serperior in White version. I was actually a little bit surprised, though, because I don't tend to be very fond of most grass types. Even so, Serperior quickly became my favorite starter and one of my favorite Pokémon in general. I actually really enjoyed Serperior's whole line, which almost never happens. I love the way it looks and the way it carries itself. I've never felt compelled to use a starter outside of its original generation until deliberately making the decision to have Serperior as part of my team in a second play through of Y. Serperior is another one I hope to use in future games! My Serperior is proud, graceful and tends to be a little arrogant when facing others in battle.
Gender: Male
Nature: Bold
Held Item: Miracle Seed
Move Set: Leaf Blade, Giga Drain, Dragon Pulse, Iron Tail
Used In: White, Black, White 2, Y
I adore so many Pokémon... A few others that I would consider "on call" to be switched-in include Gengar, Lapras, Espeon, Lurantis, Silvally, Raichu and Florges.
